How can one tell one of the most debated issues in our society without coming across as rhetorical or at worst mansplaining?
By telling the story of fairy tales, with its evolution over the centuries telling us about the changing condition of women over time.
From the earliest forms of oral storytelling to the written collections of Basile and Perrault, to the more modern fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm, Andersen, and finally Walt Disney who crystallized his version of the stories, very different from those of the origins.
Fabulae will reveal how frighteningly little we know about the universe of fairy tales and tell us the terrible secrets behind the origin of myth: stories made up of violence, sex, betrayal, and throat-cutting where the woman is always and only murderer, traitor, wife, servant, or slave.
And perhaps it is time for our stories to be once again and for the umpteenth time changed and "updated" because they have always fit the times they have to tell.
